Block Love CLT

Block Love CLT, lead by Executive Director, Deborah Phillips, operates a Day Service Center as well as community grassroots outreach throughout the streets of Charlotte serving our houseless neighbors every single day. As of today, they have served over two million meals since 2020 including during the entirety of the pandemic. This includes daily evening meal service in uptown Charlotte, supplies to Northlake, Brookshire, N. Tryon and Sugar Creek blocks, free grocery giveaways every 2nd and 4th Saturdays, community events, and efforts in other cities such as Atlanta, Houston, and Jacksonville, Florida.

The work doesn’t stop there, Block Love believes in the holistic approach by partnering to provide initiatives and programs in efforts to fight the good cause of helping our neighbors access employment and education opportunities, receive treatment for mental health and substance abuse, and break down barriers to accessing adequate and safe housing. Such efforts include the North End Encampment Project (Tent City) with Mecklenburg County, Moms Night Out, Meadow Oaks Reunion, and Trunk or Treat with Inlivian. Block Love Charlotte also collaborates with numerous nonprofits including Roof Above, Just Do It Movement, Project Outpour, CareRing’s weekly mobile health unit, Teas & TaTas Mammograms with Invision Diagnostics, Peer Support Training hosted by Camino Healthcare and led by Powerhouse of Purpose, workforce development with Erika’s Closets, and support groups for Substance Abuse, Domestic Violence and Home Ownership to name a few.
